Rinse Repeat, backup alert

Nightly backup is running once again.

Fun fact of the day: Less than 25 percent of RationalWiki visitors used Internet Explorer to view our site for the month of June. Almost 10 percent of our traffic comes from Linux operation systems. Not your average web surfer!

  1. Fun fact: When you run the backup, the site slows to a resounding crawl, er, stop. Well, it is now for me, anyway. Is there any way to make the backup software only use, say, half our resources?

  2. The reason I report the backup here is because it disables the site. The reason it does this is because the database has to be locked during the copy. So the MW software can't make any queries.

It takes less than half an hour to run.

  4. Can you try to find a better time to run the backup, IE "when I am asleep" hahahahahahahah
    ahahahahahahahaahhahahah

    hahahaha

Or something like that. PS thanks for the explination, but the damn ship's been down for a while now. Maybe that USB connection to the back up drive runs too slow?

  6. Dude, the site is in your room! Of course it works. I posted to talk:wigoCP 20 minutes ago, all I have now is "edit conflict" in the tab. And spinny nothings for the last ten minutes. Just curious why I'm having trouble even reloading my watchlist...

  7. My desktop computer is on a completely different IP so it is routed over the internet like any other connection.

Other people are editing the site as well....problem is probably not with the server, but either on your end or between you and RW. Suggest restarting the browser/rebooting your machine.

  8. I got RWW. Suspect it's not my machine/browser, the rest of the internet is good. Oh well, I'll figure it out. Thanks!
